Operation Red Wing Survivor Marcus Luttrell

Marcus Luttrell is well-known for being the lone survivor of Operation Red Wing, an attempt to capture or kill Taliban leader Ahmad Shah. Hear Marcus tell his traumatic experience of walking and crawling seven miles to safety with a bullet wound in one leg, shrapnel embedded in both legs, and three cracked vertebrae. Luttrell’s eyewitness account of his companions’ resilience while under attack is both inspiring and heart-wrenching.

An author, father, and former Navy SEAL, come and listen as Marcus Luttrell brings his story, and the story of his comrades, to life. Plus, hear a bonus feature from Marcus’ wife Melanie as she recounts how Marcus’ story has affected her own.

Captain (RET) Chad Fleming

United States Army Special Operations Command

75th Ranger Regiment

Captain Chad Fleming has been deployed overseas 8 times with the U.S. Army’s Elite 75th Ranger Regiment in support of both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has been wounded in combat on three separate occasions (2 gunshot wounds, 3 hand grenades) and has undergone 23 surgeries, one of which resulted in the amputation of his left leg.

While most would assume this type of injury would conclude military service, Captain Fleming fought hard to be cleared to deploy and was re-deployed five times since his injuries, each time serving in a combat operations position.

After serving with distinction and receiving numerous awards and decorations including the Meritorious Service Medal, Two Bronze Star medals with Valor and Three Purple Hearts, he retired from active duty and continues to serve our country in other capacities.

He has completed Marathons , Triathlons, Spartan Races and Cycling events throughout the United States to benefit Veterans and raise awareness for Wounded Service Members. His story of resilience and perseverance has been heard by Fortune 500 companies, professional and collegiate athletes around the country!

Chad will inspire you as he retells his own encounters against the seemingly impossible and his determination to never quit. Come and listen to Captain Fleming’s incredible testimony of courage and resilience on May 27th at the MEC!
