🐂 What is PBR? A Glimpse into the Heart-Pounding World of Professional Bull Riders

Professional Bull Riders (PBR) is the premier global organization in the sport of bull riding. Founded in 1992 by a group of visionary bull riders, PBR has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, with events held across the United States, Brazil, Australia, and beyond. With millions of fans and televised competitions that reach over 400 million homes globally, PBR delivers high-octane entertainment, raw athleticism, and dramatic showdowns between man and beast.

🎯 The Sport: 8 Seconds of Glory

In PBR, the goal is simple—but far from easy: stay on a bucking bull for eight seconds without touching the bull or yourself with your free hand. Riders are scored out of 100 points, with up to 50 awarded for the rider’s performance and up to 50 for the bull’s bucking difficulty. These events are not just about brute strength—they're about precision, control, courage, and intense mental focus.

🌍 PBR: A Global Arena of Talent

PBR attracts the world’s most elite bull riders. From small-town cowboys to international sensations, these athletes train year-round to compete at the highest levels. Many come from ranching families, where riding is more than sport—it’s a way of life. The top contenders battle it out for millions in prize money and a chance to be crowned the PBR World Champion, a title that represents the pinnacle of bull riding excellence.

🐃 The Bulls: Superstars in Their Own Right

In PBR, bulls are as much a part of the spotlight as the riders. These incredible animals are bred for power, agility, and attitude. Bulls like Bushwacker, Asteroid, and Smooth Operator have earned celebrity status for their strength and consistency in bucking off the best riders in the world. Each bull is carefully trained, cared for, and protected, with veterinary attention and regulations ensuring their health and performance.

⭐ Why PBR Bull Fest in Shipshewana is a Must-See

Hosting a PBR event like Bull Fest at the Michiana Event Center puts Shipshewana on the national rodeo map. Attendees can expect:

  • Top-tier PBR athletes competing head-to-head

  • Some of the most famous bucking bulls in the business

  • A family-friendly environment packed with vendors, food, music, and entertainment

  • A unique chance to experience Western sports culture right in the heart of northern Indiana

Traffic notice

Please note, the Lighting of Shipshewana is occurring on Saturday, November 8 at 7 pm (the same time as PBR), which means S.R. 5 will be closed at 6pm in areas closer to downtown – from N Village Drive to Farver Street. Please plan accordingly, especially those of you traveling from the north

Expect traffic delays when traveling to and from the Saturday night PBR event. Plan accordingly to avoid missing the beginning of PBR. We recommend arriving earlier than planned to avoid traffic issues and using this alternate route below.
